Sellors injury client secures €175,000 settlement

A seriously injured 34 year old female from Limerick has obtained a significant
out of court settlement with the help of Sellors Solicitors for multiple injuries
sustained in a head on road traffic collision in August 2011. Ms. V was out of
work for 6 months following her serious road traffic accident and instructed
Sellors to provide expert legal representation in respect of her claim for both
material damage and personal injuries. Sellors were successful in settling the
material damage claim within a matter of weeks with the third party insurance
company for a sum of €18,500 as Ms. V’s Audi A4 vehicle was completely written
off.

However, legal proceedings in respect of Ms. V’s personal injuries took almost
four years to come before Limerick High Court given the nature and extent of her
injuries and the large number of medical experts that had to be instructed on her
behalf. Ms. V suffered multiple injuries including permanent scarring, fracture of
her left tibia, neck, back and shoulder injuries, an exacerbation of urinary
incontinence and irritable bowel symptom and psychological symptoms. The
orthopaedic evidence in the case indicated that Ms. V would be left with
significant ongoing issues with her knee in the future which may require a total
knee replacement and there was a possibility that she may suffer from arthritis in
the future.

Ronan Hynes, Partner at Sellors represented Ms. V commented on the settlement
“I am very pleased that we were able to secure a significant out of court
settlement for Ms. V. She sustained serious multiple injuries in this head on
collision and it took a lengthy period of time for her injuries to settle down and for
the various medical experts to form a clear picture as to her future prognosis.
The settlement will give her some financial security and peace of mind for the
future not to mention closure on a very traumatic period
